About
Grammes Magazine (GM) is an online magazine featuring inspiring conversations, photo essays, & assignments with jazz culture’s vanguards, purveyors, & risk-takers. Focusing on the intimacy of thought, GM provides a glimpse into the lives, mentalities, & mannerisms of jazz culture via long-form interviews, short features, photo essays & assignments. We are the culture behind the concert.
The Team
Grammes Magazine is an independently published periodical, produced by a small, tenacious team headquartered in Atlanta. GM collaborates with a sophisticated network of talented contributors, journalists, photographers & content creators. If you’re interested in collaborating, contact us.
Our History
First conceived in the summer of 2016, Grammes Magazine strove to capture, document, & preserve the candid moments within jazz’s impromptu performances. Initially, the reportage was driven by photo essays, GM looked to immerse its viewership more intimately; to understand the subjects’ conceptual approaches, inspirations, & methodologies to the art we all know to be jazz.
With culture as our North Star, GM is constantly looking to find & explore the nuances within improvisational music while creating an archive of moments & candid interviews for future generations to have a glimpse into the remarkable lives of people who create in real-time; to recognize that the bandstand is solely for consumption, but the culture lives beyond the concerts.
